Annual Review of Development Effectiveness
ODE has published three Annual Reviews of Development Effectiveness since 2008, which draw on evaluation findings and analysis of data from AusAID's reporting and performance management systems. The annual review contributes to the transparency and accountability of the Australian aid program and provides a link between increasing budget allocations and increased aid effectiveness.
The 2011 Independent Review of Aid Effectiveness recommended the Annual Review of Development Effectiveness be discontinued. Going forward the Government will instead publish an annual synthesis and quality assurance report instead, which will be overseen by the Independent Evaluation Committee.
In December 2011, ODE published a pair of reports examining the quality of Australian aid.
The quality of Australian aid (2011)
The quality of Australian aid—an international perspective
The quality of Australian aid – an international perspective was prepared by the Office of Development Effectiveness and draws largely from the Brookings Institution analysis of the performance of Australia’s aid program based on the Quality of Official Development Assistance (QuODA) index and three other global assessments of donor aid performance.

The quality of Australian aid—an internal perspective
The quality of Australian aid – an internal perspective presents the findings of ODE’s assessment of AusAID’s own performance reporting. The key finding is that the integrity of the performance and reporting system is improving steadily and that Australia’s aid program is more focused on managing for results than ever before. This is a significant achievement in a year of unprecedented reform for AusAID.

2009 Annual Review of Development Effectiveness
The 2009 ARDE was tabled in Parliament on 10 December 2010. It is the third annual review. The ARDE focuses on the aid program's support for partner country efforts to improve the delivery of essential services, drawing on ODE's evaluations of Australian aid for health, education, and water and sanitation. It is essential reading for anyone working to deliver services and support public sector reform with partner countries.
