New ODE partnerships with the Overseas Development Institute and the World Bank Independent Evaluation Group
ODE has recently established two new international partnerships.
Overseas Development Institute's Centre for Aid and Public Expenditure (CAPE)
ODE established a one year funding agreement with the Overseas Development Institute's Centre for Aid and Public Expenditure (CAPE) in May 2011. CAPE's purpose is to improve partner country capacity in public spending for development. Its recent focus has been on addressing how international financial systems must adapt to tackle financial instability in donor and developing countries, particularly in fragile states, and how to better address demands for climate change financing.
The ODE-CAPE agreement provides $300,000 in core funding to CAPE’s FY 2011-2012 work program.
World Bank Independent Evaluation Group's Regional Centers for Learning on Evaluation and Results
ODE established a three year funding agreement with the World Bank Independent Evaluation Group's Regional Centers for Learning on Evaluation and Results (CLEAR) in April 2011.
CLEAR has three regional centres in South Africa (Johannesburg), India (Chennai) and China (Shanghai), and is in the final stages of selecting two further centres; one in Latin America and one in Francophone Africa.
ODE will provide $1 million in core funding to CLEAR over the life of the agreement. The key result of the Australian funding will be greater participation of countries in the Asia-Pacific region in CLEAR activities, to strengthen country capacity in monitoring and evaluation and performance management. It also presents an opportunity for ODE to engage with newly emerging donor countries on aid effectiveness.
